This is the page to learn all about the inhabitants of Great Lake City and how they get along with each other!
Wausau Fernsby is a network engineer in his late 20s. He is a straight man's straight man; he is constantly caught in the middle of his own friends as well as Jackson and his friends. He has a good heart, though sometimes he can't help but make a sarcastic comment. Otherwise, he just wants everyone to get along. In his spare time, he likes to read books. Comedic books are his favorites. We wonder why.
Since he is a cat...he is easily scared, something Jackson and Pete often exploit for hijinks. We hope he knows it's all in good fun, though. He keeps a respectable diet...except on New Year's Eve, when he will guzzle Dr. Pepper like nobody's business. Despite these quirks, he's one of the friendliest guys you'll ever meet.
Good points: Intelligent, cunning, able to solve problems quickly, good middle man.
Bad points: Easily startled, timid, overly sensitive. Did we mention easily startled?
Jackson Reid may or may not be your typical rambunctious almost-teenager. Standing tall in a 12-year-old package, Jackson is quite athletic and excels in school, even though he doesn't enjoy it very much. It is worth it for his friends, who he treasures like family. He also treasures Wausau like family (since Wausau is his legal guardian), though he loves giving him a hard time. Though he loves his friends, he can be a bit naive and dense, especially around his best friend, Katie. In his spare time, he loves playing video games. He is an avid Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. player in particular and wants to program his own video games someday.
Good points: Smart, loyal, friendly, tech-savvy.
Bad points: Occasionally lazy, irritable, troublemaker, naïve.
Pete Bush, who often refers to himself as Pete the Squirrel dramatically or cartoonishly, is quite the character. Don't be fooled by his outlandish appearance–Pete is quite intelligent when he wants to be. At other times, though, he's more impuslive and irrational than anything else. He dons a full outfit inspired by his favorite explorers because he wants to be a world adventurer. He loves collecting rare objects (or at least pretending to) and going on crazy adventures. In reality, though, he is a cook at Papa Pepperinni's Pizza Palace. He claims he works there to "fund his adventures" or something, but we think it's just his way of making it through life and keeping the bills paid.
Good points: Energetic, bold, eager to help, always ready for adventure
Bad points: Energetic, bold, misguided, ...always ready for adventure.
No one obsessive-compulses like Max Baker. This guy went to school with Wausau, and the two are best friends. He holds a steady job, but has trouble communicating to others what he needs. This is because Max needs perfect order in his life, whether that be organizing his house or placing an order to McDonald's. Of course, keeping his house in complete order means accepting Fluffy as a housemate is a tall order. The two get along pretty well and manage to keep some organization, though Max easily freaks out when something is even a little bit off.
Or a rocket crashes in his front lawn.
Good points: Detail oriented, reliable, organized.
Bad points: Obsessive, compulsive, not adaptive to change.
Fluffy is very much the anti-Max. As organized and careful as Max is, Fluffy is chaotic and clumsy. He doesn't mean to be...most of the time, but he loves having fun more than anything else in the world. While there is certainly a time and a place for Fluffy's...Fluffy-ness, he can get himself into trouble with Max or the other residents of Great Lake City at times. Sometimes you just have to wonder what goes on in that head of his.
Good points: High energy, very friendly, eager to make friends.
Bad points: Extremely naïve and oblivious, sometimes takes his antics too far.
Every 12-year-old main character needs a best friend, and Katie Gracelyn's as wonderful as they come. This bright and bubbly girl holds the highest GPA in Great Lake Middle School (with Jackson just behind her) and can do just about anything she sets her mind to. Her favorite pastime is reading books; naturally, her room is filled with books. Her book-smarts are only rivaled by her charm and loyalty. She's a great friend who won't let anyone fall down the wrong path. Rumor has it she has feelings for a certain mouse who mutually calls her his best friend, but he doesn't seem to get many of her hints.
Maybe someday.
Good points: Intelligent, kind, bubbly, caring.
Bad points: Can be blunt or grumpy at times, especially if someone doesn't listen to her advice.
Though Katie has a significantly positive influence on Jackson, Josh has the opposite effect. He is the embodiment of not following directions and just doing whatever's fun. Jackson and Josh hang out very often, but usually Josh gets Jackson in trouble. Or at least hurt in some form or fashion. Whenever Jackson and Josh are together, you can bet there's trouble. You can also bet Katie isn't too far behind holding a dramatic facepalm. Josh also tends to bend the rules of reality within the comic strip, such as actually achieving liftoff with a beanie cap. Don't ask how.
Good points: Energetic, determined.
Bad points: Lazy, fun-loving, bad influence, knows he's in a comic strip.
